Staff described three variance requests tied to the RidgePointe Commercial property at 401 Rusk: allowing two monument signs (one per street frontage), a modest deviation from the masonry-border detail, and a setback variance tied to historic TxDOT right-of-way changes. Kevin Lafear, a representative for the applicant, explained the design decision and sight-line improvements. Council voted to approve the variance with staff recommendations.
Council also approved reappointments to the Rockwall Economic Development Corporation (John Hohensheld and Kane Pierce) and appointed Jeff Thompson effective Jan. 1; those votes were unanimous. The consent agenda (items 1–5) also passed without pull requests.
