The Anaconda‑Deer Lodge County Commission on Oct. 29 approved routine business including minutes and claims, voted to purchase 2024–25 inmate excess medical insurance, and confirmed several board appointments, with one contested vote on the Old Works Golf Course Authority Board.
The meeting opened with announcements about holiday scheduling and a November 30 work session for year‑end housekeeping. Commissioners then unanimously approved the Oct. 15 commission meeting minutes and the Oct. 22 work session minutes.
The commission authorized payment of claims numbered 146,104 through 146,172 totaling $182,295.22 after a motion from Commissioner Gates; the measure passed unanimously.
One substantive policy item was the 2024–25 inmate excess medical insurance and claims administration agreement. A commissioner argued the county needs the coverage because in‑custody medical bills can be large, and the commission voted to approve the agreement. Staff noted the paperwork must be submitted by the end of the month and can be sent by email.
Several appointments filled advisory‑board vacancies. The commission reappointed Pete Reisenhower to the Opportunity Mosquito Control Board and reappointed Sue Connick to the DUI Task Force; both motions passed unanimously. Patty Davis was appointed to the Domestic Animal Task Force as the District 1 member, and Brooke Gwynn of District 5 was appointed as the general‑public member for the same task force. The commission also reappointed Gary Carlson to the Old Works Golf Course Authority Board.
For the second Old Works vacancy the commission appointed Robert Rosberg; that vote was recorded 4–1, with Commissioner Beausoleil voting in opposition and the chair directed to note the dissent in the record.
The commission set a public hearing for Nov. 26 to consider final‑plat approval of Lot 4 of the amended East Yards Frontage Subdivision as submitted by KP Development LLC.
During public comment John Kelly, who identified himself and gave a local address, asked why the vote on a proposed cell‑phone tower had been delayed. The chair explained the scheduling: the matter will be discussed at a work session two weeks from the meeting and returned for a vote at the following commission meeting; staff was asked to confirm logistics with the applicant.
The meeting closed after the commission reviewed upcoming meetings — including the Birmingham Field Airport board, Hurstree Library Board of Trustees, Old Works Authority, and others — and noted the courthouse will be closed for Veterans Day.
The commission adjourned following a unanimous motion to close the meeting.
