Ordinance 277: The commission adopted Ordinance 277 to create a domestic animal task force that will recommend changes to the county’s animal ordinance (ADLC animal ordinance No. 11). The county attorney noted state code on vicious and problem animals gives the county authority to pass local ordinances; commissioners added a public-health director or designee to the task force membership. The ordinance passed unanimously.
Bridger Tower permit: The commission approved a major development permit submitted by Bridger Tower Corporation for a 300-foot cell tower on the riverside of the divide. Commissioners said improved cell coverage addresses public-safety concerns; the permit passed unanimously.
Development district map amendment: The commission approved a planning-department proposal to update the development-district map to preserve property-owner rights where zoning no longer fits existing uses; the motion passed unanimously.
Service agreement and events: The commission approved a cleaning-service agreement for Hurstree Library with Wendy Went and unanimously approved a special-event permit for the Smelter City Scamper on Aug. 10, 2024.
LWCF skate-park subrecipient agreement: Staff reported the county’s successful Land and Water Conservation Fund application on behalf of the Anaconda Skate Park Association; the commission approved a subrecipient agreement covering a $100,000 LWCF award toward an estimated $250,000 fundraising total for a skate-park expansion at Bennett Goodman Park.
Claims and minutes: The commission approved previous meeting minutes and authorized payment of claims totaling $552,249.08; chair noted three large claims accounting for a sizable share of the total, including about $125,005.83 for county liability insurance (MMIA).
Most actions on the agenda passed unanimously; where roll-call detail was recorded, the transcript notes the mural permit passed 4–1 with Commissioner Hart opposed.
