Commission reviews $789,000 FAA grant for Bonifield Airport pavement and fuel‑farm work
Summary
Planning staff asked the commission to accept an FAA Airport Improvement Program grant of $789,000 to reimburse county pavement preservation and fuel‑farm projects at Bonifield Airport; staff noted the grant triggers a four‑year compliance clock and that the county previously completed bidding and bidding selection.

Planning staff Carl told the commission the county has an Airport Improvement Program grant agreement that would reimburse the county up to $789,000 for pavement preservation and the fuel‑farm project at Bonifield Airport.
"This is the grant agreement from the feds and just looking to accept the $789,000 from FAA," Carl said, explaining the agreement represents back‑end funding for projects already through the bidding process. He added that acceptance starts a four‑year compliance clock tied to the grant stipulations.
Commissioners and staff had no substantive objections; Carl said the county had already completed bidding, selected contractors and issued a notice to proceed, and the grant provides reimbursement as part of the federal funding process.
Next steps: the commission placed the grant agreement on the agenda for further action and staff said they would proceed with the reimbursement process under the FAA grant terms.
