"The first being to scribe the sentence that says homes must be between 2,504 square feet and instead replace it with a requirement that homes are at least 1,800 square feet," Schroeder said during the second reading.
Schroeder said staff received only minor clarification comments during their review, that property owners within the subdivision signed letters acknowledging the change, that 23 adjacent property owners were notified and a legal ad was published, and that the planning commission voted unanimously to recommend approval.
Council took no additional public comment on the measure. After a motion, second and roll-call, all members present voted in favor and the second reading passed.
Because this vote approved the ordinance on second reading, it continues the formal legislative process under the city's code; staff noted required findings were presented and no outstanding public comments were received during the public-notice period.
The council did not add conditions to the amendment during the session; next procedural steps follow the city’s ordinance-adoption rules.
