He read the inventory of items proposed for sale and cited statutory requirements for the hearing, referencing "state statute 15 1 1 12 b" as the notice and hearing authority.
Harnish explained the difficulty in repurposing older tools and said the Claremont Fire District expressed interest in purchasing the gear. "When I say jaws of life, Hurst is actually the maker of the jaws of life," Harnish said during his presentation, noting the brand is commonly used to refer to hydraulic rescue tools.
After a brief council question about replacement cost (Harnish said the new battery-powered bundle cost about $50,000), a motion to approve the transfer was moved and seconded; council voted in favor and the sale was approved.
