Board of Trustees moves into executive session to consider university employment and appointments

The Chair convened a special meeting of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees and, after a roll call, the board voted to move into executive session to consider university employment and appointment matters.

Secretary Stein reported that he had received no requests for public comment for the meeting. Trustee Craig Schilling moved to convene an executive session under section 2(c), paragraph 1 of the Illinois Open Meetings Act to consider university employment or appointment matters; Dr. McKinney seconded the motion. After the motion was moved and seconded, the Chair called for a voice vote. "Hearing none, all in favor, please say aye," the Chair said; the motion carried and the board entered executive session.

The Chair instructed trustees to remain in the room for executive session and told others to take any materials and equipment they would need because they would not be allowed to return until the executive session business concluded, which the Chair said was expected to end at about 11:30 a.m. The board then resumed the open meeting, and when asked for old or new business trustees raised none.

The Chair announced the next full board meeting would be held in Urbana on Thursday, September 18, 2025, and a meeting in Chicago on Thursday, November 14. A motion to adjourn was moved by Trustee Sebeva and seconded by Trustee Milhouse; the Chair called for the voice vote, the motion carried, and the meeting was adjourned. Lunch and the first committee meeting were announced to follow in nearby rooms.
