Residents used the public-request period to press the council on downtown safety and park amenities.
Monique Rambo (99 SE Meister Blvd) thanked the Boca Raton Police Department for increased traffic enforcement downtown but urged the council to reduce speed limits on streets including Meisner, Palmetto and Camino Real, saying drivers routinely exceed posted limits and fail to stop for pedestrians at crosswalks. Rambo described Meisner Boulevard as largely residential and said frequent red-light and stop-sign violations endanger pedestrians.
Judy Morrill reported she has gathered 384 petition signatures urging preservation of 10 clay tennis courts and green space; she asked the city to provide documentation of any requests to remove the courts and suggested a referendum if the council sought a community determination.
Council members and staff encouraged petitioners to provide copies to the city clerk and said staff would follow up with the police department and with project financial details when available.
