Deputy city manager (introduced during the workshop) told the Boca Raton City Council that the Terra Frisbee development team’s recent open house drew roughly 208 attendees and produced 49 separate comments. The deputy said staff and the developer will present an interim agreement to council on March 18 that would establish roles and responsibilities while the master development agreement is negotiated.
The deputy said staff is actively seeking temporary office space to support city operations while campus development proceeds. Alternatives under consideration are in the 70,000–80,000 square foot range; staff expressed a preference for a single, central location but said they are still narrowing the list and will return with more information. The deputy said the timeline for occupancy depends on which space is selected and any build‑out required; staff aims to move toward occupancy by the end of the calendar year if feasible.
Councilmembers pressed for detail on square footage, phasing and whether the city could temporarily use existing buildings; staff said several off‑site properties are under review and that permitting and infrastructure needs will also affect timing. The deputy manager committed to sharing the interim agreement in advance so councilmembers can review it before the March 18 meeting.
Next steps: the interim agreement will be presented on March 18; staff will return with more complete cost, site and schedule information for temporary office space selection.
