Applicant Phil Craddock described the coffee shop as public-facing and said it will support both the public and the campus. "The coffee shop is there to support the public," he said. Staff and the Architecture Review Board reviewed the elevations and requested adjustments that the applicant incorporated.
Commissioners discussed the compensatory measures, drainage and architectural elements; one commissioner described the proposed design as fitting the neighborhood aesthetic. The commission moved, seconded and recorded that a three-quarter majority was required and obtained for approval; staff will return materials for final ministerial checks and permit processing.
What happens next: The applicant will complete required compensatory measures and follow up with final engineering and permitting steps. The commission's approval allows the project to proceed through those subsequent approvals.
