Fulton County approves $230,699 state grant for NG911 maintenance, hires per-diem dispatcher

Fulton County commissioners voted unanimously Dec. 30 to accept a State Interconnectivity Grant totaling $230,699.51 to support multiple 911-related maintenance and upgrade projects.
EMA/911 Director Brian Barton presented the grant, which the county said will be used toward SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, a SouthCentral Mountain battery upgrade and Fulton ILEC maintenance. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve and execute the grant agreement; the motion passed with all in favor.
In a related personnel action, the board approved hiring Troy Wagaman as a per-diem 911 dispatcher, pending required background clearances. A brief Salary Board meeting at 9:48 a.m. set the salary for the new hire. The record shows commissioners entered executive session at 10:01 a.m. for personnel matters and exited at 10:29 a.m.
HR Administrator Mary Huston was present during discussion of the pension report and personnel items. The commissioners recorded unanimous votes on the grant acceptance and the personnel appointment.
The county will move forward with grant-related procurement and maintenance tasks under EMA/911 oversight.
