Bluff swears in new mayor, confirms mayor pro tem and key appointments

Josh Ewing was sworn in and began his first meeting as mayor of Bluff on Tuesday, Jan. 6, thanking outgoing volunteers and officials for their years of service and pledging to focus on stewarding the town's water, backyard open spaces and long-term sustainability.
"I'm really honored to take a shift as the mayor," Mayor Josh Ewing said, speaking after the oath and noting the hours invested by volunteer leaders and staff that led to the town's incorporation.
The council moved quickly through routine organizational business. Councilmember Gary Hawes made the motion to approve minutes from the Dec. 18 and Dec. 30 special meetings; the motion passed unanimously. The council then followed the usual practice of selecting a mayor pro tem for the year and, after no opposition, voted by roll call to elect Britt to the role by unanimous vote.
In other organizational actions, the mayor appointed Jennifer Davila to continue as treasurer and proposed appointment of Erin to serve as the town recorder; the council provided advice and consent for both appointments in roll-call votes recorded as unanimous. No contested nominations or abstentions were recorded.
The council framed the meeting as an introductory, organizational session rather than a forum for major policy decisions; members and meeting participants used the time to thank outgoing leaders and outline routine administrative duties for the year ahead. The meeting adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
