Dunn County approves first reading of bereavement policy; Friday-holiday pay change tabled

HR Director Dessie Calihou presented proposed revisions to the county’s Bereavement Policy and to Friday Holiday pay language at the March 4 meeting.
Commissioners approved the first reading of the Bereavement Policy, which applies bereavement leave to immediate family only. The proposed Friday Holiday change, which would convert Friday holiday pay to an hour-for-hour system rather than a day-for-day calculation that currently produces unequal weekly totals for departments, was discussed but tabled for further review at the request of Commissioner Heiser.
Commissioner Pelton moved to accept the first reading of the Bereavement Policy and Commissioner Heiser seconded; that motion passed as recorded. Commissioner Heiser moved to table the Friday Holiday discussion; Commissioner Olson seconded and the motion to table also passed as recorded.
The commission asked the policy-review board to revisit the Friday Holiday language and return recommended changes at a future meeting.
