Planner Amy Stephens told the board Marquette County was awarded $13,192.88 in FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funding as a subrecipient of the Michigan State Police/Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division to update the county's Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Stephens said the county's current multi-jurisdictional mitigation plan expired Jan. 23, 2026 and the grant plus a $4,500 match (materials, equipment and supplies) will fund the update. Maintaining an approved FEMA hazard mitigation plan preserves eligibility for federal mitigation funding, Stephens said. The board accepted the administrative review with no recommended changes and authorized Chairperson Derocha to sign the agreement; motion adopted 4-0.
