Marquette County outlines $5.13 million in remaining ARPA funds, schedules workshop to refine reallocations

County Administrator Duane DuRay told the board that Marquette County has a remaining American Rescue Plan Act fund balance of $5,130,788.55 and presented a staff review of previously approved projects and potential reallocations.
DuRay outlined suggested reallocations and priority initiatives: consolidating prior jail-related allocations into a "New Jail" fund ($707,167.29); Phase II jail administration windows ($30,000); increased allocation for historical courthouse second-floor air conditioning ($1,110,437.01, part of an estimated $2.2 million project); courthouse façade and spill-plate work ($2,000,000); elevator upgrades for multiple county facilities ($551,000); an IT conversion to a cloud-based system ($250,000); airport alert center upgrades ($139,500); Room at the Inn support ($50,881.25); Janzen House ($30,112.80); transit support ($34,000); and FBO development ($100,000). Several earlier-identified projects remain unchanged.
Commissioner Nordeen moved that staff recommendations be considered and that commissioners and staff form a workshop to review the proposed reallocations closely; the motion carried 4-0. No final reallocations were adopted at the meeting; staff and commissioners will refine the proposals in the workshop before any binding board vote.
