Monroe County commissioners approve grants, budget adjustments and multiple contracts; votes at a glance

The Monroe County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday approved a package of routine personnel, financial and grant actions and authorized contracts for engineering and courtroom audio‑visual upgrades.
The board voted to correct and approve the personnel agenda after an initial motion failed because some new employees’ start dates were listed incorrectly. Commissioners also ratified payroll and vendor payments, including vouchers dated Feb. 20 ($2,709,106.15) and Feb. 27 ($1,240,451.77), and gross payroll of $1,544,157.40 for the period ending Feb. 22, 2026.
Fiscal and grants actions included execution of a Title XIX Medicaid Grant Agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services for $39,892 to provide medical assistance information and referral services for the Area Agency on Aging, ratification of a Pennsylvania Opioid Misuse and Addiction Abatement Trust submission ($434,594.49), authorization for submission of a Keystone Historic Preservation Grant application for $100,000 to replace the Old County Jail roof, and approval of a State Food Purchase Program Grant Agreement for $303,501.04. The board also approved a Juvenile Probation Services Grant Agreement for $96,795 to cover July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026 services.
On procurement and capital work, commissioners approved a $29,500 professional agreement with Reilly Associates for engineering services to develop a parking area on the 6th and Quaker Alley lot and ratified a prepaid services agreement with Illuminated Integration for Courtroom A/V systems. The board authorized advertising requests for proposals for a Continuity of Operations/Continuity of Government Plan and for an Act 537 Component 3 Plan Update, and approved a $13,375 budget adjustment.
The board also approved release of $40,000 from ACT 152 Demolition Program funds to Smithfield Township for project #2024‑02 (274 Marshalls Creek Road) and allocated Community Services Block Grant funds to Pike County sub‑recipients totaling $93,960.
The board handled more than a dozen routine motions in a meeting that opened at 9:30 a.m. and adjourned at 9:55 a.m. Several items required no public discussion. Chief Clerk Robert J. Gress said the Act 148 first‑quarter Children and Youth report would be available for public viewing by the end of the week after a member of the public requested access.
