Owosso council prioritizes infrastructure, outlines FY 2026-27 goals

Councilmembers discussed and revised priorities organized into three main areas: teamwork improvement; initiatives, programs and policies; and capital projects and equipment needs. Henne told the council the results of the prioritization activity will be delivered in a formal report at a later meeting.
Council members focused on reframing infrastructure work from short-term stabilization toward investments that support long-term system reliability and sustainability. The minutes record that infrastructure “continues to be the number one priority for both groups, though the focus has moved from one of stabilization to long-term sustainability.” The council did not adopt specific spending decisions at the session; the item was a planning and goal-setting exercise.
Also on the agenda, the council noted board and commission vacancies and term expirations for the Building Board of Appeals (alternate positions), Historical Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, and set its next meeting for Monday, March 16, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
