Owosso Historical Commission approves event plans, schedules public renovation briefing for May 19

Chairman Lance Little called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Commissioner Rachel Osmer moved to approve the February 9, 2026 minutes as presented; Commissioner Bill Moull supported the motion and the minutes were approved by voice vote. Later, Commissioner Steve Teich moved to approve the March 9 agenda as presented; Commissioner Rachel Osmer supported that motion and the agenda was approved by voice vote.
During the “Items of Business” segment, commissioners discussed plans for a September Home Tour. Commissioner Steve Teich moved that Denice Grace assemble a small donation from the Castle’s gift shop for the Conservation Club dinner; Commissioner Rachel Osmer supported the motion and it passed by voice vote. Commissioner Rachel Osmer moved that the Commission honor last year’s festival pricing for 2026 events held in the park; Commissioner Bill Moull supported the motion and it passed by voice vote. The Commission also decided to host a public event on May 19, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to present and gather public input on renovation plans for the Castle and related facilities.
Amy Fuller, Assistant City Manager, reviewed the Commission’s revenue and expense report. The Building and Grounds Committee provided status updates on the boiler system, the bid process, and the air conditioning cabinets. The Time Traveler Committee reported progress uploading maps and scanning photographs for archival access. The Educating Our Youth Committee set a meeting for March 16 to advance that committee’s work.
There were no public comments and no commissioner comments recorded. The Commission scheduled its next regular meeting for Monday, April 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Chairman Lance Little adjourned the meeting at 8:05 p.m.
