Brooke County OKs temporary Wellsburg police use of former probation office, hires IT systems administrator and approves budget transfers

At its March 10 meeting the Brooke County Commission unanimously approved a series of administrative actions: temporary occupancy for the City of Wellsburg Police Department, hiring an IT administrator, and two in‑house budget transfers.
Commissioner Thomas R. Diserio moved and Commissioner Stacey Wise seconded approval to allow the City of Wellsburg Police Department to begin working on the second floor of the old Probation Office while lease agreements and contracts are drafted. Prosecuting Attorney Allison Cowden requested proof of insurance from the City of Wellsburg before the office move proceeds.
The commission also approved hiring Ryan Brown as the county’s IT Systems & Network Administrator, with a start date of April 1, 2026 and a salary of $60,000, contingent on background and drug testing. In the same session the commission approved two in‑house budget transfers: $241.00 for the County Clerk and $10,000.00 for the Tax Office.
In addition, the clerk announced a Type I 2026 (or newer) ambulance bid due March 17, 2026 and multiple job postings for county positions, including 911 director and dispatch roles and openings with the Brooke County Ambulance Service.
All motions were reported as unanimous in the minutes.
