Wilmot UHS administration pitches switch from Apex to Imagine Learning for online courses

Wilmot UHS administrators presented Imagine Learning as a potential replacement to the district’s current Apex virtual curriculum and said the switch would require board approval at the district’s May 22 meeting.
Don Norick (presenter) walked board members through Imagine Learning’s classroom and teacher views, explaining the platform’s three course levels—beginner, retake and honors—its video-based instruction and built-in accessibility (read-aloud) and test-prep modules. He said teachers can customize modules to align with district standards and that the platform prevents skipping ahead in lessons, which the administration said reduces the "click-through" problem experienced with Apex.
Administration provided seat-based cost comparisons: the district currently pays $7,125 annually for 60 Apex seats; administration said Imagine Learning would cost approximately $7,050 for 60 seats plus a one-time $750 setup fee, and that the vendor has provided 25 trial licenses for evaluation. The administration noted that additional seats can be purchased mid-contract if needed and that licenses are actively recycled when students complete retake or recovery coursework.
Board members asked about rollout timing and summer availability. Administration said that, if approved, the district would end the Apex contract June 30 and could onboard Imagine Learning in time for summer credit recovery and enrichment. The administration also emphasized the need for adult supervision and an on-site teacher/paraprofessional to support students taking online classes.
The administration will list the vendor switch on the May 22 agenda for formal board consideration.
