Commission approves major construction and procurement awards, declares surplus sheriff vehicles

Calhoun County commissioners on July 24 moved forward with several large procurement and capital-project actions, unanimously approving awards and administrative orders that county staff said will advance road, park and facility work.
County Administrator Jonathan Gaddy presented a $343,000 contract award to Hurst Construction LLC for the RTP Trails McClellan RV Park project; commissioners authorized the chairman to sign the agreement. Gaddy also presented a $1,634,200 award to Advance Roofing Solutions to reroof the county administration building; that resolution was adopted by voice vote.
The commission adopted a bundled Highway Department resolution covering multiple bid items, including Plantmix FOB Cold mix, concrete, guardrail, traffic stripe, crushed limestone and crushed quartzite, herbicide, and gasoline/diesel supplies. County staff indicated these awards set vendors and pricing for routine highway maintenance and projects.
Gaddy presented a resolution declaring 18 vehicles assigned to the Sheriff’s Office (model years 2000–2013) surplus to be sold; commissioners approved the surplus declaration. Separately, the board approved authorizing a service weapon and a Streamlight flashlight assigned to the Sheriff’s Office to be gifted to Chief Deputy Lynde Meeder upon her retirement.
The commission also authorized an AIA change order to account for cameras already owned by the county and to apply a $45,750 credit to the project cost. Commissioners authorized the chairman to sign that change order by voice vote.
Finally, Gaddy presented an FHWA SS4A funding agreement and an agreement with Sain Associates to produce a Safety Action Plan for county and city streets; both were authorized by the board. The meeting minutes record unanimous votes for the procurement slate and surplus actions; no dissenting commissioners were recorded.
