During the public-comment portion of the March 13 meeting, county and community representatives updated the commission on outreach and preparedness activities.
Audrey Maxwell, tourism director for the Chamber of Commerce, thanked the commission for support of the recent State of the County event and described takeaways from a statewide tourism kickoff. Myles Chamblee, emergency management agency director, briefed commissioners on upcoming severe weather and said EMA staff are coordinating with safe-room managers to ensure preparations are in place. Administrator Jonathan Gaddy recognized Chamblee and Brittany Reaves for their contributions to the World of Works event.
Brittany Reaves said the World of Works draws nearly 2,000 students per day and helps eighth-grade students explore Career Tech pathways in high school. Commissioners closed the meeting following a motion to adjourn; the meeting ended at 10:25 a.m.
