Commission authorizes ADEM grant application, rejects landfill custodial bids and approves surplus transfers

Administrator Jonathan Gaddy presented a package of county resolutions that the commission adopted unanimously on March 13.
Gaddy said all landfill custodial-service bids were rejected based on the Landfill Manager’s recommendation; Commissioner Howell moved adoption and Commissioner Shears seconded. Commissioners then authorized staff to apply for Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) funding in an amount not to exceed $93,410 with no matching funds required; Commissioner Wilson moved approval with Commissioner Howell seconding.
The commission declared two service weapons assigned to the Sheriff’s Office as surplus and authorized gifting them to the Sheriff upon his retirement; that measure was moved by Commissioner Shears and seconded by Commissioner Patterson. Separately, the commission declared two recycle trailers at the Landfill surplus and authorized donation to the Cleburne County Commission on a motion by Commissioner Patterson and seconded by Commissioner Wilson.
Finally, commissioners authorized the chairman to sign the Region Two Alabama Works Local Elected Officials Consortium Interlocal Agreement and related documents to facilitate county participation in the regional workforce council; Commissioner Patterson moved adoption and Commissioner Wilson seconded. All motions passed by unanimous voice vote.
Staff will proceed with procurement follow-up, grant application steps, and documentation required to effect the surplus transfers and interlocal agreement.
