Commission approves transit resolution, surplus equipment, contracts and board appointments

The Calhoun County Commission on Jan. 9 adopted several administrative resolutions, authorized vendor agreements and filled multiple board vacancies during a single, unanimous series of votes.
Staff presented a resolution for Section 5311 Nonurbanized Area Public Transportation, which the commission adopted by voice vote. The board also declared a Vicon camera system assigned to the Sheriff’s Office as surplus to be recycled and authorized the chairman to sign an agreement with DataWorks Plus for software and hardware support for the county’s electronic fingerprint machine for $5,000 and an agreement with ATIS Elevator Inspections for the courthouse annual inspection for $220.
Commissioners approved the FY2024 County Rebuild Alabama Annual Report; County Engineer Rodney McCain reported that successful 2024 projects will be finished and that uncompleted work will be finished using carried-over funds. The commission also filled several vacancies: Jennifer Watson was appointed to the Transit Advisory Board (at-large); Jerry Glover was appointed to the DHR Board, District 1 seat; Sheriff Matthew Wade was appointed to an expired term on the Highland Health Systems Board; and Lolitha Phillips was appointed to an unexpired Highland Health Systems Board term. The commission granted a one-time waiver of liquor tax penalties for the Victory Package Store for December 2024.
All administrative motions were passed by unanimous voice vote of all commissioners present.
