Calhoun County Commission approves liquor license, multiple procurement awards and bank signatories

At its Jan. 22 meeting the Calhoun County Commission approved an ABC license for Payless Liquor, awarded several procurement contracts including a Revenue Commission vehicle and waste collection services, authorized bank signatories and extended a counseling services contract; all motions passed unanimously by voice vote.
The Calhoun County Commission on Jan. 22 approved a series of routine but operationally significant items, including an ABC application for a lounge retail liquor license, multiple procurement awards and a bank authorization naming county signatories.
County Administrator Jonathan Gaddy presented the second reading of an ABC Board application for Sukhar 1 LLC doing business as Payless Liquor at 10340 Choccolocco Road seeking an 011 — Lounge Retail Liquor — Class II package license. Commissioner Shears moved to approve the application and Commissioner Patterson seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Gaddy also presented procurement resolutions that the commission approved by voice vote. The Revenue Commission’s Chevrolet Tahoe bid was awarded to Cooper Chevrolet GMC for $67,368.00. The Sheriff’s Office uniform footwear and boots bid was awarded to MAC Uniform. Interceptor pump-out services were awarded to Wise Environmental at $850.00 bi‑weekly with an additional $1,500.00 charge for extra service calls. Front‑load and roll‑off waste collection services were awarded to Meridian Waste. Each resolution was moved, seconded and approved unanimously.
On county finance, the commission adopted a bank authorization resolution designating Jonathan Gaddy (county administrator), Chief Financial Officer Melissia Wood and Chairman Lee Patterson as authorized signatories, effective Jan. 24, 2026, until amended. The commission also authorized a one‑year extension of the professional services contract with counselor Jon Garlic, LPC, to continue providing counseling to prospective law enforcement personnel and approved a $220 agreement with ATIS Elevator Inspections, LLC, for courthouse elevator inspection services.
All motions on the agenda passed by unanimous voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m.; the next regular meeting was announced for Feb. 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
