Calhoun County Commission approves batch of nuisance abatements, contracts, grants and appointments

At its Oct. 23, 2025 meeting, the Calhoun County Commission adopted a package of routine and substantive actions including multiple public-nuisance resolutions, contract awards, grant authorization and board appointments.
Environmental Programs Manager Kraig Mize presented recommendations to proceed with abatement on 11 properties (addresses and owners listed in the minutes). Representatives for two properties told the Commission they were making improvements: Jason Doland said work was underway at 629 S. Hillman, and Jacqueline Bass said clearing work was occurring at 46 New Prospect Street. Commissioners voted to adopt the abatement resolutions by unanimous voice vote.
