Commission approves construction change orders, cancels office‑supply contract and names two appointees

Commissioner Shears moved to authorize the chairman to sign the change order and Commissioner Henderson seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The commission also approved a $22,195 change order for Hail Construction to cover revised footings at the Choccolocco Community Center; Commissioner Shears moved to authorize the chairman to sign once the document is finalized, Commissioner Wilson seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
On procurement, Gaddy presented a resolution to cancel the county's agreement with Quill for office supplies. Commissioner Shears moved adoption; Commissioner Henderson seconded. The commission conducted a roll call vote with Commissioners Wilson, Shears, Henderson, Chair Terry Howell and Commissioner Patterson all recorded as voting yes.
The commission adopted a municipal election services resolution to provide election services and use of county equipment for municipal elections; Commissioner Patterson moved and Commissioner Wilson seconded the motion, which carried by voice vote.
Gaddy also presented an agreement with Whorton Engineering for HVAC improvements at the EMA Operations Center; Commissioner Henderson moved to authorize the chairman's signature once the agreement is finalized, Commissioner Patterson seconded and the motion carried.
Finally, the commission filled two vacancies: Philip Smith was appointed to the McClellan Development Authority (at-large seat vacated by J.D. Hess) after a motion from Commissioner Shears and second from Commissioner Patterson, and Heather Turner was appointed to the Transit Advisory Board (at-large seat vacated by Jennifer Watson) after a motion from Commissioner Henderson and second from Commissioner Wilson. Both appointments were approved unanimously.
