Commissioner suggests expanding ALTA consulting to study downtown–government campus connectivity; staff will follow up

A commissioner asked the CRA to consider issuing additional ALTA work orders to expand consulting on Palmetto to include east–west connectivity with the new government campus master plan; Director Brown said he would consult staff and the consulting firm and report back.
During the director’s report discussion, a commissioner raised the status of the ALTA consulting plan for Palmetto and urged the agency to consider expanding the consultant’s scope.
"If we wanted to expand their consulting services to include other portions of the downtown…maybe now is the time to expand, or at least to add a work order, for them to consider the connectivity between not just that portion of Palmetto, but east and west to include the new government campus master plan," the commissioner said.
Director Brown responded that connectivity between the campus and the eastern portion of downtown would be considered as part of the planning process and said he would consult with staff and the firm for exact details and follow up with the board.
The discussion did not result in a formal motion or vote. Board members asked for further information about scope and how additional work orders would be issued; Brown said staff would provide details at a later date.
