CRA Director Brown reported on Jan. 13 that the Center for Arts and Innovation notified the CRA and the city on Jan. 8 that it was terminating immediately the pre-construction and development agreement and the lease that stemmed from the Oct. 12, 2022 PCDA.
"On January 8, the center notified the CRA and the city of its decision to terminate immediately the 10/12/2022 pre construction and development agreement and lease pursuant to section 14 of that PCDA," Brown told the board. He said staff sent a confirming letter on Jan. 9 stating the PCDA and the lease were terminated effective Jan. 8.
Board members did not direct follow-up action during the meeting; Director Brown said he was available to answer questions and would consult further with staff if members requested details. The transcript records one member asking Brown to check with staff and the consulting firm about ALTA work tied to Palmetto planning, and Brown said he would follow up.
The CRA did not discuss any new enforcement action, replacement tenant, or financial settlement in the meeting record. The termination, as described by Brown, invoked Section 14 of the PCDA as the contractual basis for immediate termination.
