Mr. Whitney, a member of the City of Boca Raton Planning & Zoning Board, announced at the Dec. 6 meeting that he will resign effective the following day after five years of service.
"I've enjoyed serving the past 5 years on the planning and zoning board," Whitney said, and added he has been "recusing myself from votes way too often primarily due to my commercial real estate appraisal business," which he cited as the reason he decided to step down. He thanked staff by name, including Heather Hanson and Brandon Shad, and called his service an honor.
Board members wished Whitney well; the chair acknowledged his service and the meeting adjourned shortly afterward. The board did not take formal action related to the resignation during the meeting; procedural steps for filling the vacancy were not discussed on the record.
