Fulton County commissioners on Feb. 24 approved a proclamation designating March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and gathered with local providers and residents for a signing and group photo. Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to approve and execute the proclamation; the board voted unanimously to adopt it.
The proclamation language commends the observance and states that "Fulton County becomes a better place when people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities, and knowing we are all One World, many Abilities." Attendees included representatives and consumers from Occupational Services Inc., CRI, Full Circle Residence, Lupey Behavioral Services, The Arc of Franklin/Fulton Counties, Fulton County Human Services, MH/IDD/EI staff, and family members.
Human Services Director Julie Dovey and other service providers were present but did not record a formal request for funding or a program change during the signing. Commissioners framed the proclamation as a ceremonial recognition and encouraged community support for inclusion and services. The meeting proceeded to other agenda items after the proclamation was signed.
