Summary
Dynamic Program Management presented a schedule for Central High School under the district's $190 million bond program: abatement begins in March, bid package 1 (Federer Hall) is under contract, $2.3 million expended to date on design and soft costs, and major construction ramps up this winter with an athletic addition targeted for use at the Warrior Classic.
Micah Adams, owner’s representative with Dynamic Program Management, gave the board a project-level update on Central High School’s bond work, describing schedule, phasing and budget status.
Adams said the district’s $190 million bond program has been broken into multiple buckets and that the Central High School work makes up a large portion of the program. He said work will start in March with abatement in the two-story locker room area, followed by selective demolition and mechanical, electrical and plumbing work; major construction activity is expected to peak in December.
"The big portion of work will start in March followed by this summer, and then we'll get really into the big construction portion this coming December time frame," Adams said, noting that bid package 1 — a renovation of Federer Hall — is under contract and will allow procurement and purchasing of equipment to begin.
Adams said the total expended to date is about $2,300,000, primarily for design and soft costs, and that furniture procurement will kick off in about a month. He also noted coordination is required to relocate a Verizon cell tower; presenters said Verizon is negotiating to cover that relocation but that the precise amount Verizon will pay was not specified during the meeting.
Adams walked trustees through phasing maps and renderings and said an athletic addition is scheduled to be completed before the district's Warrior Classic so the space can be used for the event. He invited questions and said final construction documents and the final estimate will be completed soon after current design milestones are closed out.
Next steps in the project timeline, Adams said, include abatement in March, continued procurement and modular placement this summer, and major construction activity beginning this winter.
