The Dorchester County Council unanimously adopted Bill No. 2025-6 on June 3, 2025, to close, abandon and convey a portion of Farm Creek Road and the county boat ramp adjacent to Tax Map 102, Grid 18, Parcel 6, Lot 2.
County Attorney Charles MacLeod described the measure as the final step in a property swap and said settlement will occur once the bill goes into effect, 60 days after final passage. The public hearing produced no public comments. The roll-call vote was recorded as: Pfeffer — aye; Detmer — aye; Kramer — aye; Nichols — aye; Travers — aye.
The ordinance covers roughly 81.75 acres as identified in the council materials. The council also entered into a related contract for sale and purchase of real property with Horseman Enterprise, LLC during the meeting. The county attorney said the conveyance and the settlement timetable are contingent on completing the statutory post-passage waiting period.
No members of the public spoke in opposition during the hearing. The council will record the final settlement once the statutory waiting period has elapsed and all closing conditions are satisfied.
