MDOT officials brief Dorchester County on FY27 plan; Worlds End Turn repairs set for summer 2026

Acting Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary Samantha Biddle and agency officials briefed the Dorchester County Council on Sept. 16 about FY27 transportation priorities, timelines for local projects and state funding for environmental restoration.
Biddle provided an overview of the FY27 Consolidated Transportation Plan and told the Council the department is advancing a roundabout at the MD 392/14 intersection. Mark Crampton, District 1 Engineer with the State Highway Administration, told the Council permanent repairs to Worlds End Turn are scheduled for summer 2026 and will be conducted around the clock over roughly three weeks after the school year ends.
Council members asked about construction impacts and alternate-route limitations; resident concerns about temporary closures and alternate-route tonnage limits were also raised later in public comment. Acting Secretary Biddle and other MDOT officials answered questions about project timing and funding and confirmed the department will continue $2 million in support for oyster restoration efforts in the Chesapeake Bay.
No binding commitments to change county policy were made at the meeting; the briefing served as the Council’s annual update with MDOT and included officials from the State Highway Administration, Maryland Transportation Authority, Maryland Transit Administration, Motor Vehicle Administration, Maryland Aviation Administration and Maryland Port Administration.
