Dorchester County Council approves consent agenda including FAA grants, state aid applications and procurement actions

Dorchester County Council approved a broad consent agenda on Aug. 5, 2025 covering routine minutes, disbursements and several staff recommendations and grant actions.

Key items approved include: • Accounts payable and prior meeting minutes. • An Economic Development recommendation to license Suite No. 037 at the Eastern Shore Innovation Center to App World, Inc. per staff recommendation. • A Corrections Department amendment to its Substance Use Disorder Telehealth Services agreement to remove a duplicate medication service, producing an identified cost savings of $160,428. • Authorization to advertise an RFP for the purchase of gasoline, #2 fuel oil, ultra‑low sulfur diesel and propane for Highway and Solid Waste operations (bid deadline Aug. 25, 2025). • An application to Maryland State Aid for $550,000 to resurface about 373,054 square feet of Indiantown Road. • Submission of FY27 Waterway Improvement Fund (WIF) grant requests to the Maryland DNR for multiple projects with proposed amounts (Tyler’s Cove Phase 3 Construction $250,000; Tyler’s Cove Dredge $750,000; Elliott Island Timber Jetty $500,000; Back Creek Marina Construction $250,000). • Acceptance of two FAA grants totaling $808,408 for CGE Airport runway and taxiway rehabilitation design with 5% county match requirements ($627,908 grant with $33,048 match; $180,500 grant with $9,500 match). • A $5,000 Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention & Policy FY26 Gun Violence Reduction Grant award to the Sheriff’s Office to fund deputy overtime for investigations and operations.

Approvals were recorded as unanimous. The minutes show staff will proceed with procurement advertising, grant acceptance paperwork, and required match accounting for grant awards where applicable.
