Dorchester County Council approves consent agenda, public-works contracts and to advertise lobbying RFP

On Jan. 20 the Dorchester County Council voted 3–0 to approve a consent agenda, authorize Public Works to piggyback a tar-and-chip contract, extend a USDA cooperative agreement for beaver management, reappoint a zoning-board member and advertise a request for proposals for county lobbying representation with a Feb. 1, 2026 deadline.
The Dorchester County Council on Jan. 20 approved multiple routine and procurement items by unanimous 3–0 votes, with Councilmen Rob Kramer and William Nichols absent.
Most formal actions were motions by Councilman Mike Detmer and seconded by Councilman Ricky C. Travers. The council approved the consent agenda, which included the Jan. 6 open-session minutes and the accounts-payable disbursement report for the week ending Jan. 16; Councilman Travers recorded an abstention on payments to Simmons Center Market.
