On Feb. 26, 2026, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners approved a letter designating the Association of Oregon and California Counties (AOCC) to represent Jackson County as a cooperating agency in the Bureau of Land Management’s southern Oregon Resource Management Plan process. Commissioner Colleen Roberts moved to approve the letter; Commissioner Randy Sparacino seconded, and Commissioners Roberts, Sparacino and Chair Rick Dyer voted aye.
County Administrator Danny Jordan explained the board had asked for discussion of whether to designate AOCC as a cooperating agency. Jordan said the county lacks the staff resources to represent itself effectively and described practical advantages to aligning with AOCC, while noting a distinction between routine coordination and formal cooperating-agency status. Commissioner Roberts said she would request a copy of the Cooperating Agency Memorandum of Understanding from AOCC Executive Director Doug Robertson.
