County approves personnel changes, warrants and clarifies courthouse parking policy

At its March 3 meeting, the Cottonwood County Board approved routine consent and personnel items including a permanent appointment, warrants, a parks appointment and parking‑lot guidance.
County Coordinator Kelly Thongvivong reported that Appraiser‑Trainee Jason Jepsen completed his probation; the board unanimously moved him to permanent full‑time status effective March 8, 2026. The board also unanimously approved March warrants totaling $100,197.97, with listed fund amounts (County Revenue $10,314.80; County Building $41,186.52; Road & Bridge $28,126.76; Landfill Enterprise $19,119.09 and others).
Commissioners approved Rebekah Saffert as the 2026 Talcot Park Camp Host. Chair Thomas D. Appel led discussion on the Courthouse East parking lot and reaffirmed prior consensus to keep the lot for public parking except five spaces for county vehicles; the Building Operations Manager will designate public spaces and notify employees of remaining parking rules.
The minutes also record an update on the String Lakes project noting four possible grants were identified but that the project is currently on hold pending matching‑fund decisions. The meeting adjourned at 11:26 a.m.
