Separately, staff recommended accepting Greenway — a local company in Beatrice — for the county’s 2026‑27 milling and lawn‑mowing contract. Staff said Greenway’s mowing price was listed at $149 per mowing and a fertilization package total of about $6,652; the board voted 7‑0 to accept Greenway’s bid and awarded the contract pending staff confirmation of specifications.
Board members clarified ownership and management of the fairgrounds during related discussion: the Gage County Ag Society owns and manages the fairgrounds through its elected board (15 members), and the county’s extension office operates programs there. The supervisors said the county will consult the Ag Society on work at the fairgrounds.
