At the Aug. 12 Bluff Town Council work session, staff announced a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 13, to raise money for EMS certification and staffing, and councilors discussed roles, logistics and a possible silent auction.
Staff said the event will run roughly 8–10 a.m., with tickets priced at $10 for adults and $5 for children, and asked council members to volunteer and help solicit silent-auction items. A councilor suggested assigning specific responsibilities to avoid last year’s confusion; staff said she would circulate a volunteer schedule and donor confirmations.
The council also reviewed draft municipal logo concepts created by intern Josie Lott. Staff described design elements—dark-sky stars, yucca and natural colors—and councilors favored circular and elongated options for different uses (letterhead, business cards, T-shirts). One councilor proposed a public survey or fall contest to solicit community input; staff said additional mock-ups and black-and-white tests would be provided.
Members confirmed Citizens Academy dates (sessions in Monticello and Blanding and a tentative Bluff session on Sept. 11) and discussed who could attend. The session schedule will be circulated to council members and staff.
The work session concluded with a motion to adjourn at about 05:47 p.m.; the Chair called for the vote, members said "Aye," and the meeting adjourned.
Next steps: staff will finalize logistics for the Sept. 13 fundraiser, prepare additional logo mock-ups for council review (including black-and-white and business-card previews), and circulate Citizens Academy details.
