The council reviewed a draft airport overlay ordinance prepared by the Hansen Group and forwarded from planning and zoning. Chair Linda Sosa said planning and the airport manager had looked at the draft and that the town needs to schedule a public hearing in October to solicit public comment.
One councilmember flagged incorrect wording in the ordinance about the three required physical posting locations; the suggested correct posting sites were the post office, the community center and KMC. Councilmembers discussed whether to set the public hearing at the start of October and then use a work session to review comments before a possible follow-up meeting to take action.
Staff agreed to prepare required notices and ensure postings are corrected; Erin Nelson said notices will be prepared for the San Juan Road posting and other required outlets. No action was taken in the work session; the council confirmed the intent to host a public hearing in October and directed staff to prepare corrected notices and the required posting certificates.
