On Jan. 26 the Cloud County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to approve Resolution 2026-5 and a Proclamation of a State of Local Disaster following fires over the weekend, the board record shows.
Emergency Management Director Makenna Hass told the board she had been receiving Tier 2 reports and was organizing Emergency Support Function (ESF) folders in response; she said fires over the weekend prompted the county’s action. The proclamation and resolution were approved on a motion by Commissioner Ron Copple, seconded by Commissioner Dannie Kearn, with the board announcing a 10-minute executive session earlier in the meeting to address related matters.
The resolution formalizes the county’s disaster declaration so staff can proceed with response coordination. The board did not attach a specific funding appropriation at the Jan. 26 meeting; Hass indicated meetings with regional partners and routine emergency-management follow-up would continue.
