The Cloud County Board of Commissioners on March 24 proclaimed April as Child Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month and recognized the advocacy role of CASA volunteers who support abused and neglected children.
Representatives from CASA — Gary Caspers, Tony Miller, Jennifer Kindel, Mary Lisa Thoman and Bryleigh Baxa — presented a proclamation and said CASA will host Chamber after-hours on April 10 at their office. The motion to proclaim the month passed unanimously on a motion by Commissioner Ron Copple and second by Commissioner Dannie Kearn.
The Board’s proclamation is intended to raise awareness of child-abuse prevention and to acknowledge local CASA volunteers' work in the county.
