Cloud County board approves payroll expenses, abatements and minutes; acknowledges staff termination

At the Feb. 2 meeting the Cloud County Board approved payroll totaling $195,527.68, payroll deductions of $83,115.78, approved abatements 2026-11 through 2026-24 (net change ($3,104.56), refund $1,016.14), approved January evaluations and minutes, and recognized the termination of a corrections officer effective Jan. 26, 2026.
The Cloud County Board of Commissioners approved administrative and financial items during its Feb. 2, 2026 regular session in Concordia.
Payroll expenses approved totaled $195,527.68 with the following breakdown: General Fund $95,360.89; Road & Bridge $54,167.96; Appraiser $7,497.93; County Health $21,706.22; Noxious Weed $1,563.63; Election $2,388.73; Solid Waste $12,842.32. Payroll deductions and benefits totaled $83,115.78.
On a motion by Commissioner Ron Copple, seconded by Commissioner Dannie Kearn, the board unanimously approved abatements 2026-11 through 2026-24 resulting in a net change of ($3,104.56) and a refund of $1,016.14. The board also approved the January evaluations (motion by Commissioner Kearn, seconded by Commissioner Copple) and approved the Jan. 26, 2026 minutes as presented.
The minutes record that the board recognized the termination of Elijah A. Brannan, Corrections Officer, effective Jan. 26, 2026. The clerk reported sales tax receipts dated Jan. 26, 2026 of $87,873.95 compared with $86,740.94 in the prior year period.
The board adjourned at 11:44 a.m. and scheduled its next regular meeting for Monday, Feb. 9, 2026.
