Londonderry supervisors move township funds to higher-yield accounts, approve cooperative purchasing and several contracts

Londonderry Township supervisors on July 1 approved several financial and procurement measures intended to increase yield on township funds and streamline upcoming building renovation procurement.
The board passed Resolution 2024-12 to permit participation in the Sourcewell Purchasing Cooperative, clearing the way to use Sourcewell’s cooperative bid schedules for design and construction work related to the Administration Building Renovations and other projects. Manager David Blechertas said the solicitor reviewed the resolution and had no objections.
Supervisors also voted to transfer the township’s General Fund and Golf Course Fund balances into PSDLAF GTS accounts after staff reported the GTS option offered higher interest (the transcript cites about 4%) while retaining liquidity and collateralization. Supervisor Mel Hershey urged the move, projecting increased interest revenue.
On operational contracts, the board approved a one-year contract with Tri‑State Shredding at $50 per pickup for secure disposal of public records and a $2,729.91 supplemental payment to DE Gemmill for line painting. The board approved purchasing 30 tons of 9.5mm asphalt and 3 tons of 19mm asphalt from Pennsy Supply under COG bid pricing for $2,343.00 and authorized $1,301.89 in playground repair parts from George Ely Associates under PA COSTARS.
These measures were approved by roll-call votes with all five supervisors recorded as voting "Aye."
