Resident urges no‑parking on Snavely Road; township staff to survey other problem streets

At the Aug. 5 meeting of the Londonderry Township Board of Supervisors, resident Emily Jovakiney described repeated safety hazards from vehicles parked along Snavely Road and Steinruck Road that she said often block a travel lane and create risks for school buses, emergency responders and delivery vehicles.
"When vehicles are parked along the road it is essentially blocking a lane," Jovakiney said, asking the board to prohibit on‑street parking on Snavely. Codes Officer Duane Brady told the board that because Snavely is a township road changing parking rules would require an update to the ordinance; adopting the change would permit State Police enforcement that is not available absent an ordinance listing the prohibition.
Township Manager David Blechertas recommended staff first survey Snavely and identify other Township roads that might warrant similar treatment so any ordinance revision could cover multiple problem locations. Supervisor Ron Kopp expressed concern about enforcement capacity and urged outreach to affected residents before moving to a formal ordinance. The board directed staff to survey candidate roads and report findings back to the board.
