Londonderry supervisors send proposed Data Center Overlay Ordinance back to Planning Commission

The Londonderry Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Aug. 20 to refer a proposed Data Center Overlay Ordinance back to the Township Planning Commission for additional review following public comment and board discussion.
During discussion the board addressed several regulatory concerns raised in the public hearing and by staff, including references to State Senate Bill 9‑39, map revisions, requirements for public water and sewer for data centers, sound decibel limits, setbacks, taxes, by‑right versus special exception uses, conditions for use and minimum lot size. Supervisors agreed to compile feedback and discuss details with Township Manager David Blechertas before providing formal comments to the Planning Commission.
The referral preserves the public record from the hearing while giving the Planning Commission and staff an opportunity to consider changes or clarifications to the proposed overlay. No ordinance text was adopted at the meeting; the board’s motion was procedural, not regulatory, and the Board did not set a schedule for further action at the meeting.
