Londonderry supervisors send DTMA pump station rezoning request to planning commission

Zoning Officer Duane Brady told the board that under the current R2 designation the pump station is a nonconforming use but would be permitted “by right” in the C2 commercial district. Supervisor Mike Geyer moved to refer the request; Supervisor Anna Dale seconded the motion, and the board approved it on a unanimous voice vote.
The rezoning request was brought by the developer of the Lytle Farms property; meeting discussion noted the developer also intends to reestablish a billboard on the parcel if the zoning is changed. The referral begins the formal review and public-involvement steps the township uses for zoning map amendments, which will include Planning Commission study and subsequent public hearings if recommended.
The board did not adopt or deny the rezoning at the meeting; it only authorized the Planning Commission to review the proposal and start the public process. Next procedural steps will be the Planning Commission review and any public hearings the commission or township schedules.
