Londonderry hires HRG to design replacement of Gingrich and Zion Road bridges

Londonderry Township approved a $298,380 engineering proposal from HRG to design and oversee replacement of bridge superstructures on Gingrich and Zion Roads.
Engineer Mike Wood told the board HRG's 2024 study concluded the concrete abutments and supports are in good condition and could last another 50 years; the recommended approach is to replace decking and superstructure while retaining the existing abutments. The current plan is to procure superstructures through COSTARS and bid the installation labor.
Board members discussed the anticipated project timeframe, materials availability and expected detours to accommodate construction. Solicitor Jim Diamond indicated the proposal had been reviewed from a legal standpoint and was satisfactory.
The board voted unanimously to approve HRG’s proposal, which includes full engineering and design services, bidding, construction administration and inspections. Work will proceed to the design phase and return to the board for contract awards related to construction bids.
