Londonderry Township continues public hearing on proposed data-center zoning after audio problems

At a July 7, 2025 public hearing, Londonderry Township Solicitor James Diamond said the Board opened comment on Ordinance 2025-02, a proposed amendment to Chapter 27 of the township zoning code to add regulations pertaining to data centers and to create a Data Center Overlay District.
Chairman Ron Kopp told attendees the hearing would be continued to 7:00 p.m. on Aug. 4, 2025 at the Londonderry Fire Department, 2655 Foxianna Road, Middletown, because the meeting’s microphone was not working and residents could not hear the proceedings. The Board closed the public hearing for the evening. The minutes note that a stenographic record was taken separately and that public comments are attached to the meeting minutes as a separate handout.
The hearing’s continuation also prompted the Board to table formal consideration of Ordinance 2025-02 until the Aug. 4 meeting. Township Manager David Blechertas relayed that tabling motion under the Manager’s Report, and the Board voted unanimously to defer action until the continued hearing.
By tabling, the Board preserved an opportunity for additional resident comment at the scheduled continuation. The Solicitor and Chair emphasized the procedural need to ensure audible public participation before making a zoning decision.
The continued hearing is scheduled for Aug. 4, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the Londonderry Fire Department. Public comments submitted for the July 7 hearing are attached to the minutes; those written comments and the stenographic record were noted by the Board but are not included in this article.
